Recently there was a very cool experiment undertaken in Hollywood Jim Raycroft of the LA Master Chorale and Les Harrison of Hollywood Sound.

Jim has worked long and hard to put together a very cool concept that features an amazing group of singers performing some of the most popular big-band arrangements using just their voices to replace the brass and woodwind instruments. So instead of 5 saxes and 4 trombones and 4 trumpets, the parts are performed vocalists.

Using a first-rate rhythm section, they gathered recently to record some of the portions of these classic songs – and Hollywood Sound brought excellent state-of-the-art digital audio equipment to record the audio. We happened to be there and this is what it looked like…
