Hamilton Price
Originally born in Georgia, Herbert Hamilton Price IV grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In 1998, he attended The University of Texas at Austin. While in Austin, Hamilton studied Jazz with John Fremgen and Jeff Hellmer, and classical music with David Neubert. When Hamilton graduated from UT-Austin in 2002, he moved to San Antonio, TX, where he played with Gerry Gibbs’ Thrasher Band for several years. In the spring of 2006, Hamilton moved West to Los Angeles to pursue music.
Hamilton Price has backed up jazz greats: John Abercrombie, Dewey Redman, Tom Harrell, Mike Stern, Gary Bartz, Ravi Coltrane, Wynton Marsalis, James Moody, Terry Gibbs, Jon Henedricks, Larry Coryell, Randy Brecker, Steve Turre, Joann Brackeen, Sam Rivers, and Dave Liebman. Since moving to LA, he has worked with Billy Childs, Geoffrey Keezer, Brian Blade, Steve Wilson, Bob Sheppard, Larry Koonse, Marvin ‘Smitty’ Smith, Antonio Sanchez, Francisco Mela, Ben Wendel, Mark Ferber, Nate Wood, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tom Scott, Otmaro Ruiz, Kevin Kanner, Gilbert Castellanos, Melissa Morgan, Josh Nelson, Sara Gazarek, and many others that are too numerous to list here.
Hamilton Price lives in Historic Filipinotown, CA with his Double Bass, and a plethora of hot sauces.
